    Bifdog “Haul”

    September 17, 2010May 12, 2020

So it was my birthday on Sunday (12th). A fun filled four days, yes, but exhausting. I got given so many exciting things though, and whilst I’ve said before that I’m not a fan of “haul” videos, my presents were…

    22 Ways to Say Black

    September 16, 2010May 12, 2020

I like dresses. I like sparkly things (although not quite as much as Katey. Honestly. We had to pretty much drag her out of the Swarkovski store at Cabot Circus.) So when I saw these dresses, I knew that I’d…

GLC – Newport State of Mind

    September 7, 2010February 2, 2025

Back in my first year of Uni, we spent far too much time over at the boys flat. It was as you’d expect a flat of 8 boys and no cleaner. All over the walls in the kitchen (between the…

The new season of Bridgerton dropping on Netflix t The new season of Bridgerton dropping on Netflix today reminded me that I never really posted about visiting Bath last March when we went home.

That trip back to the UK after five years meant squeezing a lot into just ten days, so as soon as we landed (and immediately hit up M&S for a meal deal – I still don’t understand why the US doesn’t really do sandwiches like the UK does, but I love a good meal deal!), we were straight on the move.

We stayed at @thegainsboroughbathspa which was lovely, and managed to sneak in a massage and a visit to the spa pool before heading off to the next stop. Honestly a very good way to ease into the trip, helped along by a full English breakfast each morning! (I had definitely missed that!)

We were mostly in town visiting friends so didn’t really get much shopping time in, but I did manage a quick dash (literally, I ran across town while Alex was checking out!) across the city to @indiespiritbath which is always a must-visit, especially if you’re looking for interesting gins for your collection.

It was also my first trip back to Bath since a certain very big TV show was filmed there, and it’s always slightly surreal watching Bridgerton and recognising places I’ve walked past more times than I can count. And like anyone who’s lived somewhere that gets used for filming, watching it with me comes with running commentary…
“that’s basically by Primark”
“you can’t actually walk down there”
and of course, “OMG the best cake is just around that corner”.

Bath might be my second-favourite Roman city, but if you’re thinking about a trip to the UK, it’s one you should definitely have on your list 🤍

I’m determined in 2026 to finally post things I’ve I’m determined in 2026 to finally post things I’ve put off for ages, so why not start with a visit to Bend, OR back in 2022 and more specifically, visiting the last Blockbuster in the world 📼

Like any good elder millennial, a trip to Blockbuster felt pretty special back in the 90s, and it genuinely delighted me that this little store about 5,000 miles from home had the same decor and layout I remembered from 30 years ago. It really does feel like stepping straight into a time capsule, even with the new releases on the shelves actually being new releases.

Possibly the most exciting part though is that now I’m an adult with actual money, I can actually afford the snacks for sale 🍿

If you’ve not already seen it, there’s a great documentary called The Last Blockbuster, which you can watch on Tubi, and if you ever find yourself in the area, it’s an absolute must-visit.

You know I love a throwback… 2016 was the final y You know I love a throwback…

2016 was the final year we fully lived in the UK, even though we didn’t know it at the time.

We gained a tiny pup (Jess), Alex bought the house we were renting (only to put it on the market nine months later when we moved to Seattle), and I actually posted to Instagram on a regular basis (mostly about the excellent lunches we ate – especially once Swoon opened and Deliveroo arrived in Bristol.)
All this chat about hockey lately reminded me that All this chat about hockey lately reminded me that I still hadn’t posted about the inaugural Seattle Torrent game, and I’ve been meaning to share it!

ICYMI, this time last year, the PWHL held their first-ever takeover tour game in Seattle. The response was so good it helped convince the league to bring an expansion team to the Emerald City (and one to Vancouver too).

Fast forward to November, and the Seattle Torrent played their first home game at Climate Pledge Arena the day after Thanksgiving, to an almost sell-out crowd (although tbh it felt fuller than a lot of Kraken games I’ve been to). My little sister was visiting that week from the UK, partly because this game was happening and partly because she really wanted the gravy boat giveaway from the Kraken game a few days earlier, so Alex and I took her along. Between the company, the occasion, and the energy in the arena, it was such a special night. The whole place was just full of girl joy! Sadly they didn’t get the win (or a goal…everyone was so excited to find out what the goal song would be!) but it was still just the best time.

If you’ve never watched hockey before and want a place to start, the PWHL is a great place to start. Many games are at UK-friendly(ish) times, and every game is streamed for free on their YouTube channel (except for Canada, Czechia, and Slovakia for some reason).

I can’t wait to go to more games this season. Seattle girlies, this is an open invite if you’re looking for someone to go with 💙🏒

Ins and outs for 2026, which is not a distraction Ins and outs for 2026, which is not a distraction from writing my yearly new years resolutions blog post (it totally is)
