I’ve been meaning to put this post together for a while, but the list was constantly growing of books that came out that I wanted to read! You probably know by now that I love a good deep dive into the business side of things and that I’m fascinated with the influencer industry, so of course these books would be top of my TBR list.
Here are a few of my top choices of books about influencer life
Influencer – Brittany Hennessy
This book is a little older now, but as you might be able to tell from the above photo, it’s one that I look back on every so often. What you can’t see in the photo is the amount of bookmarks on pages I find useful! It’s got tons of useful information on pitching, pricing and posting, and should be on any influencers to be read list.

Break the Internet – Olivia Yallop
This was such an enjoyable read, that I got the book from the library (KCLS/Overdrive, I love you) and hadn’t even finished the Kindle version when I ordered the paperback to add to my bookshelf. Olivia went on various voyages to learn how to be a successful influencer and talks about what goes on, as well as talking about some of the background on various niches.

Momfluenced – Sara Petersen
Despite not being a “momfluencer” (boke, what a terrible word that is), I found this book really interesting which went through the rise of mummy bloggers and influencers and how its developed into a bit of a monster industry segment

Extremely Online – Taylor Lorenz
Love her or hate her, Taylor Lorenz has been reporting on online communities for a long time – her newsletter, User Mag, is a must subscribe if you’re interested in internet culture. This book is a great place to start if you know absolutely nothing about the online worlds as it covers everything from the early blogging era to the current state of social media.

Swipe Up For More – Stephanie McNeal
Another person who’s been super important in the documentation and narration of this historical time (it feels silly to say historical when talking about blogging and influencing, but when you think about it, it really is. What other periods of history have women making such major changes and influence?) is Stephanie McNeal, who used to cover internet culture for Buzzfeed. This book was interesting and follows three influencers (US only – I would love to have seen at least one non US person, and have some discussion about the differences between the culture in different countries, although that might be because of my experience in both the UK and US!)
