Cosy Up!

january essentuals

I know that you’d expect this sort of post before Christmas, but to me, its in the first few months of the year when that it gets really cold and snowy that I want these sort of home comforts a lot more. Most important on my list would be a soft cotton robe* and cashmere bed socks* with a suitably cute pair of pyjamas underneath. I’d grab my mini hot water bottle* (by the way, these are amazing if you have a lot of back pain – they’re small enough to be able to keep them at work or in your bag. When I’m having one of my back back times, its the best thing I own) and jump into the polka dot* bed with a cute throw* on top to keep extra warm.

I like to watch rubbish TV while I make plans, so I’d write everything down in my diary – I haven’t yet bought one, but I love the monthly Moleskine set* and you can never have too many candles – since money is no object in this little collection, I’d go for this Yankee Candle* set from QVC, and an eye mask* is always necessary.

What essentials do you need for a chilled out night in?

Movember!

I love anything that encourages people to get involved with raising money for a charity, especially if its a cancer charity. (What can I say, I’m very biased). You probably know at least one bloke who is doing Movember this year, where men are sponsored to grow a tashe, and raise money for mens health, more specifically prostate cancer.

Unfortunatly, my ‘tache growing skills are not that great due to…well, y’know, being a girl. But there are other ways to get involved ladies! Alice‘s latest project was creating the Tache Off app for 118 118’s Facebook page where if you tache-ify (yep, thats a word) your photo, they will donate £1 for each pic made.

Theres also a huge amount of jewellery especially that will help you join in – here’s a few of my faves!

HtCC: Collared

I love detachable collars. They can change the look of an outfit easily and are quite cheap (compared to buying a new outfit, anyway!). Heres a few I’ve spotted that I think I could wear.

This “antique embellished collar” from Topshop* (£32) was part of their online exclusives, but unfortunately its currently sold out.

I love this Gemma Lister Peter Pan collar* – unlike most of the other collars here, this looks like its more solid so wouldn’t lose its shape. Its also only £31.50 on ASOS* at the moment.

From Urban Outfitters, this crochet collar necklace* (£28) is much softer looking.

If you prefer something a bit more unique, this collar from Loulou Loves You (£45) is gorgeous, and handmade (so you’re unlikely to see someone else seeing the same thing)

Etsy always has so much choice, but my favourite was this studded Peter Pan collar from Girl Can’t Talk (£35) – so different to the other collars above!

If none of these take your fancy, then you can always have a go at doing it yourself – Lucy posted a tutorial about how she decorated some cotton collars or if you can crochet (unlike me!), theres a cute collar pattern here.
