HtCC – Wet Weather Necessities

If your Twitter time line is anything like mine, this week, all you’ll have read is “OMG ITS RAINING AGAIN” or “LOL LOL LOL HOW CAN WE STILL BE IN A DROUGHT LOOK AT THE RAIN” (Don’t understand how we can be in the wettest drought? This article from Channel 4 explains it).

I’ve actually been quite happy about the rain – I bought these short wellies from Primark a month or so ago, but the weather hasn’t been completely horrible to justify wearing them without people giving you a bit of side eye. Whatev, my feet are dry. They remind me of these Mel booties, although I prefer the Primark bow. When the weather was starting to turn horrible a week or so ago, I looked at the broken brolly I was using and quickly placed an order with Amazon for a new one. Thanks to my Prime account, it was delivered the next day – I bought this Susino umbrella* for about £12, and I love it because I like clear umbrellas, its not a dome shape (so I can share with other people!) and it has a button to automatically open. That was exciting when I was 8 and had a little red umbrella, and its not gotten any less exciting as I’ve gotten older.

I’ve blogged before about raincoats, but I thought I’d share some cute wellies and umbrellas, because lets face it, we live in the UK, you need a decent umbrella at the very least.

Such a lazy weekend! Alex has been away in Boston this week, so I’ve been living the single girl life – which isn’t as glamourous as Jen‘s hashtag made it sound. My single girl life involves eating dinner in bed, wearing hideous (yet oh so comfy) PJ’s and cleaning all the things (predictably, last week I went cleaning crazy, this week, had to run around the kitchen quickly in the 5 mins before Alex arrived bearing Maccy D’s breakfast.)

Today, while Alex sleeps off his jet lag, I went to town to use Arch Angelz. I’m so happy to have nice eyebrows again! Its one of the few things that I treat myself to, since it makes me feel much more groomed, and also because when I had chicken pox in 2003, I had spots in my eyebrows and the scars make them grow strangely. I also went to Boots to buy some primer, ended up spending £30 but no primer. Argh! At least I got some magnetic nail varnish (ITS LIKE MAGIC) and some super nail repair stuff from Nails Inc (Save the Nail range?) because my nails are in a dodgy state after the manicurest filed down the tops of my nails and chopped them all off because she thought I wanted acrylics. I bought this Groupon deal this weekend and am saving it for when my nails are in a better condition so I can get them Shellac’d.

Right, back to the chores. Oh the excitement.

Don’t Know What You See, It’s Getting To Me

Top: Taillissime at OneStopPlus | Leggings: Joe Browns*

It is WAY too warm to be thinking about wooly leggings and cosy jumpers, but thats just what this is. OneStopPlus were kind enough to send me an item from the Taillissime range they have. Taillissime is by La Redoute, a brand I’ve avoided in the past because I’ve assumed they didn’t do sizes over 12/14. It was difficult to choose just one item from OneStopPlus – they have collected lots of different brands together, and go from size 14 up to size 36, so most people will be able to find something. They also do mens wear up to a size 9XL (!)
The top is in a size bigger than I’d usually wear, I didn’t really realise how much material was in the top, its huge and so cosy. I can’t wait to wear this in the colder weather (seriously “Indian Summer” go away, I don’t like the normal summer, but this is ridiculous)

I chose the leggings with the gift card that Joe Browns provided when I visited their HQ a few weeks ago. They’re a cable knitted legging, and go so well with this gorgeous top.

On Friday, Macmillan had their “Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning” event. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to organise one, either at work or via the blog (yeah, I was a bit confused on how that would work, but I liked the idea of lots of bloggers having a tea party on their blog and linking to how to donate) but since Macmillan helped my mum so much when she was ill, I set up a JustGiving page and also a text thing – if you text SMCP54 £1 to 70070, it will donate £1 to Macmillan (changing the amount after the £ sign will change the donation amount). See, couldn’t be easier. So theres no excuse ;)
