Race for Life

I know that the more popular system to use to collate images for most people is Tumblr, but personally I prefer Pinterest. Why? I like that there is only one layout available, and that you can only post images (not text or videos) – its less about another version of a blog and more about collecting images from around the web. Pinterest describes itself as “a virtual pinboard” which makes sense!

You can separate items into different “boards” or collections – as you can see in the above image, mine vary quite a bit, so its easy to find something I liked previously. I “pin” any clothes that I want to wear, bits of stationary that I need (I have such an unhealthy obsession with stationary and organisation!) and things I want to eat. Yum.

Pinterest seems a bit more grown up than Tumblr to me – its difficult to explain why though! Perhaps its because of the “Rules To Pin By” – pretty much rules to keep to for anything you do online. Be nice, don’t spam and give credit.

Theres now an iPhone app available (of course!) which should make pinning less about items found online and more about snapping “real world” items that you love.

My boards can be found at /hayles – let me know your usernames if you have an account. If you’d like one, let me know, I think I have some invites left!

The Topshop’s New Clothes

As you’ve probably already seen, Topshop have recently had a lovely redesign. It’s the sort of design that I love – sleek, minimal and lots of space everywhere. It just seems a lot easier to find a product that you like the look of.

The new product pages are quite nice too – although they haven’t gotten rid of the annoying scroll over zoom which doesn’t work that well on iPhones – but thats not much of an issue since Topshop have brought out their own iPhone app (I’d love more shops to do this!)

Unfortunately, a new redesign means I must look at things and NEED TO BUY THEM NOW. The old design was looking pretty tired – I remember 3+ years ago it looked the same (as I used to spend every lunch looking at it – Facebook has only just appeared really and was closed to most people, and Twitter was just starting as well). On the Topshop Facebook page, you can have a look at the AW10 lookbook. I’m not really a fan of Topshop, but I was drawn in by the capes:

I’ve been looking for a cape for a few years now, a nice navy blue or dark grey wool one would suit me quite happily. Thanks.

I know, I know. I’ve said many times before about how much I love Polaroids. And although many people complain about the crappyness of the camera on the iPhone, I still use it because its just so handy to be able to upload it to Twitpic or onto this blog.

Unfortunatly sometimes the pictures from the iPhone are a bit washed out, a bit meh. Thankfully I have found an application called ShakeItPhoto for just 59p which acts like Poladroid

The only criticisms that I have of the application are that it doesn’t save the original picture so you can compare the differences, and that you can’t convert pictures you’ve previously taken. But I have Poladroid if I feel that strongly about the last one!

You can purchase ShakeItPhoto from the iTunes store by clicking here
