I’ve been pretty terrible at posting this year (as if that’s a surprise) so I’m going to attempt to post every day in December. Let’s see if it holds!

First big electric car trip done last weekend (after 6 years of owning electric cars 😂). Walla Walla was so fun, less fun was the single stone that chipped the Rivian windscreen so badly that it needs to be replaced. Views from the passenger seat in happier less cracked times!

I was looking up books about influencers on my Lib

I was looking up books about influencers on my Libby app to borrow from my local library and found this book. By the end of the first chapter, I had ordered the physical book because I was finding it so interesting and knew it was one to add to my collection.

The book explains some stuff around the industry from the point of view of British influencers, and the author went so far as to do things like going to “stan” and “snarker” events, enrolling in an online influencer bootcamp and actually putting the lessons to work on her IG account. Too often, articles and books about the influencer industry are written from a slightly negative point of view, that this is just a passing fad and that anyone wanting to take part in it is a terrible, vapid, unintelligent person. I really appriciated that Olivia actually took it seriously and put the things she learnt into action instead of just writing it off.

There are not many books as detailed and involved as this, and if you have even a passing interest in the influencer industry, I would recommend picking this up.

New (to us) favourite sushi place in Bellevue - @kurasushi_usa. It’s like Yo! Sushi back home with the conveyor belt, but *so* much better with a screen to order from, an automated delivery service (second belt above the main one that brings your request out and of course the drinks robots) and instead of stacking the plates high, you drop them in a chute and after you’ve dropped in 15 plates, you get a toy. It’s become a fun Friday treat for us, because it’s always good to accidentally soosh.

March is always the time of year that I think abou

March is always the time of year that I think about blogging more, since it’s when I started on this journey many years ago. (It does scare me a bit when I think about how my blog life is old enough to drink in the US.)

This year, we've seen people shutting down their blogs/websites to focus on other platforms or just to get off social media altogether, but we've also seen people advocating for a return to blogging (off the top of my head, I’ve seen posts by @carly and on @verge, but if you know of others, I would love to read!). We’ve also seen in recent months what a clusterfuck social media is becoming (I mean…more than usual/expected) with whatever the hell is going on with Twitter.

Personally, I hope we do see a comeback to blogging - not just for the selfish reason that I want more good stuff to read, but because I hope influencers are finally starting to pay attention to the fact that you don't own your space on social media and that increasingly, it's looking like there may be a paid element to having an account - so why not pay for your own space?

(and honestly? I think a huge part in the decline of the number of actively updated blogs is to do with the demise of Google Reader (no, I’m still not over it) and the crumbling state of the abandoned Bloglovin'. Web based RSS feed readers that have a basic free version are few and far between, I can only think of Feedly at the moment but even that’s not amazing. Would love some recommendations!)

How do most people still follow blogs anyway? What do you use?
