Best Haul Video Ever

I’ve never quite understood the whole “haul” video thing. I’m not really into vlogging at all, but haul videos just seem a bit too showy, showing off the latest purchases of make up and clothes. I switch off most blogs after a minute, because it seems odd to be watching someone talking to a screen. (And don’t even get me started on people who edit the “um”‘s out.)

However, I had to share this haul video with you. Even if you love making and watching haul videos, you can’t help but laugh at this one!

Glee

One of my favourite new shows is Glee, a musical teen comedy-drama (I refuse to write dramedy, comedrama or any other amalgamation of the two). Its about a high school “show choir” or “glee club” (anyone else kinda glad we don’t have those in this country? No? Just me?) set in Ohio.
I’m trying to think what else I can say to persuade you to watch it, but its probably best if you see the trailer first.

The songs in each episode are a good balance between chart hits and older tracks. I love the mash ups, in particular Mr Schusters mash up of “Don’t Stand So Close” and “Young Girl” (works surprisingly well I think!)

Glee is going to be shown in the UK on E4 early next year, but the pilot will be shown at 9pm on Tuesday 15th December. Which is the episode with Don’t Stop Believing. You can see why I love it.

Retro TV

Since moving into the flat, I have discovered that I now how access to a crap-load of new channels. I am actually far too excited about this.

When me and my sister were younger, we begged our parents to get Satellite TV installed. My dad wasn’t bothered about it, but my mum refused completely because she thought we would stay in front of the TV all day watching QVC. It took us quite a few months to convince her to just let us get a Freeview box!
Now, thanks to the joys of Virgin, I can now watch LivingTV (Americas Next Top Model), Trouble (VERONICA MARS! Its strange to see it with advert breaks) and Nickelodeon, where I have found all my teenage TV addictions. Sister Sister, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Renford Rejects.
I adored the Renford Rejects, and watched it on Sunday night for the first time in about 10 years. And yes, it is still as good as I remember. I had a massive crush on Matthew Leitch when I was 14, and often spent Biology lessons discussing with Helen C why he was the cutest one on there.

I can’t be the only one thinking that kids/teen TV was much much better when we were younger. Having seen some of the crap the CBBC channel shows, I wonder why they don’t just repeat all the good old stuff!

So what were your favourite TV shows when you were a teenager? Who did you have random crushes on from those shows? I’m sure at least someone fancied PJ and Duncan from Byker (Byker Byker) Grove! (And if you know what I’m talking about, do the stupid laugh from the end of the theme tune here)

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Last night, myself and Helen voyaged to Ellesmere Port to the Vue to watch Forgetting Sarah Marshall. We had wanted to see this film for a while since we heard Kristen Bell was going to be in it. (We love Veronica Mars) On one of the hottest days of the year, we were excited to go to the well air-conditioned room and eat ice cream instead of sunbathing in a beer garden drinking cider.

I tried to keep away from reading any reviews, because I assumed they wouldn’t be too positive, but I had heard from friends of friends that it was awful.
We settled into our seats at the front of the tiered seats (best seats in the cinema, cause you can put your feet up on the bar in front)

The film was a lot more enjoyable than i expected, and there were actually moments that I laughed out loud. There was a little too much male frontal nudity and sex scenes for my liking. We discussed on the way home possible scenarios where that would not be a good film to watch with someone. Helen said that watching the film with your parents wouldn’t be the best idea but I thought that going to see this on a first date would be most awkward.

Russell Brands character was… well, lets just say there wasn’t much acting needed! Kristen Bell was a little irritating, but that was kind of the point. Jason Segel was a bit sad, but again, that was the point. Oh, and we loved the puppets – just Avenue Q enough for us!

Overall, a good film to turn your brain off to – don’t expect anything too taxing or intellectual!

Being such Veronica Mars geeks, we loved that the trailers before the film were for films with Amanda Seyfried (who played Lilly) and Ryan Hansen (Dick Casablancas) in. We hoped for something (anything!) with Jason Dohring in, but sadly there was no trailer for Moonlight.
