Plus, surely you generally buy a packet containing one sheet, one duvet cover and 2 or 4 pillow cases. Then you take them off after a while and wash them, replacing them with the last big pack of the above you bought. Therefore, mixing and matching is more effort than it's worth. And neither of these things are smug. I can think of more smug-married things, but not right now cos it is late. I’m with Max on that.

Really!? I had NO idea. I am a self-confessed smug married. We hold hands and everything. Plus, we do this thing where we follow each other round the house so we're together the whole time. We literally hardly spend any time apart if we're not at work, and go everywhere together. Ick. We've been together two & a half years and it's not wearing off either.
